Specialty Movers in New Hampshire, Pianos, Gun Safes, Heavy Items & More

Some items need more than a moving truck — they need the right equipment, the right training, and a crew that's moved them before. Brooks Moving handles specialty relocations across New Hampshire that most movers won't touch: pianos, gun safes, gym equipment, senior downsizing, student moves, and same-day requests. Tell us what you need moved and we'll tell you exactly how we'll do it.

Upright Pianos

Professional padding and dollies for safe transport through doorways and stairs.

Baby Grands

Specialized equipment and leg removal techniques for delicate grand piano moves.

Stair Navigation

Expert handling for challenging stairway and tight space piano relocations.

Gun Safe Moving Services

Gun safes are among the heaviest items in any home, a full-size safe can weigh 500 to 1,500 lbs. Moving one requires a heavy-duty appliance dolly, floor protection, a measured path to the door, and enough crew to do it safely. We assess the route, protect your floors, and get your safe to its new location without damage to the safe, your home, or our crew. We do not ask about contents and handle all moves with discretion.

Heavy & Specialty Item Movers

Not everything that needs moving fits in a box. We regularly move: treadmills and ellipticals, weight racks and home gyms, large mirrors and wall units, hot tubs and outdoor equipment, arcade machines and vending equipment. If it’s heavy, oversized, or awkward, and you don’t want to risk your floors or your back, we can move it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does piano moving cost?

Uprights: start at $275

Baby Grands: Start at $575

Time and distance also factor in. Every job is different; the fastest way to get an accurate number is to call us with your piano type, pickup address, and delivery address. We’ll give you a straight quote.

Do you tune pianos after moving?

Yes, pianos should be tuned after every move, regardless of how carefully they were transported. We recommend waiting 2–4 weeks after the move to let the instrument acclimate to its new environment’s temperature and humidity before having a tuner in. Ask us for a referral to a local NH piano tuner if you need one.

What if my piano won’t fit through the door?

Before any piano move, we assess your doorways, hallways, staircase dimensions, and exterior access points. In most cases, we can make it work; we carry a range of equipment, including piano skids, shoulder dollies, and rigging straps for extreme situations. If the access is genuinely impossible (it’s rare), we’ll tell you before moving day, not during.

How much does it cost to move a gun safe?

Gun safe moving typically costs $150–$400 for a local move, depending on the safe’s weight, size, and access difficulty. Larger safes (600 lbs+) requiring special equipment or multiple crew members will be toward the higher end. Call us with the safe’s weight, dimensions, and your floor plan, and we’ll give you an accurate quote.

Can you move a gun safe upstairs?

Yes, in most cases. Stair moves for gun safes are doable but require assessment; we need to know the safe’s weight, the staircase width, ceiling height on the landing, and whether there are any turns involved. We’ve moved safes up and down stairs hundreds of times. Call us before assuming it can’t be done.

Senior moving: How do you handle emotional items?

With care and patience. Senior moves often involve items of deep sentimental value, such as furniture, collections, and family heirlooms. Our crew doesn’t rush, doesn’t make decisions for you, and treats every item as if it belongs to someone we know. If you’re unsure what to keep, donate, or move, we’re happy to work through the plan with your family before moving day.
